US election: Biden’s campaign ad stands out due to Trump’s criminal status.

The bet is aimed at decisive states and tries to frame the election as a dispute between ‘ the sentenced person and the president who fights for his family’ to occupy undecided voters.

President Joe Biden ‘s campaign   began its most aggressive move on Monday to brand former President  Donald Trump as a criminal, with the introduction of a new television proclamation focusing on the Republican presidential candidate’s criminal sentence .

The campaign explained that the proclamation would be part of an investment of US$50 million (almost R$271 million) in decisive states in June. A growing number of Democrats have been urging the president to be more hostile to enhancing criminal punishment against Trump.

“We see Donald Trump for who he is,” states the proclamation ’s narrator . “He has been sentenced for 34 felonies, found responsible for sexual assault, and committed financial fraud.”

The campaign concludes by presenting the election as the choice that the Biden campaign intends to engrave in the memory of voters who do not know whether to vote for the Democrat, whose approval ratings last week reached the lowest point of his Presidency: “This election is between a sentenced criminal who only defends himself and a president who fights for his family”, states the narrator of the proclamation .

TO USE or NOT to USE the New York Jury’s decision in the campaign?

Since the conclusion of Trump ‘s trial  last  month , the Democratic president’s allies have been involved in a broad discussion about how to use the New York jury’s decision in the campaign.

While Trump regularly laments his whistleblowing in speeches during rallies and on his social media platform, Biden has avoided the subject for the most part , with the exception of an impromptu remark at a fundraiser in Connecticut this month. The president has not attacked Trump for his criminal sentence in front of television cameras, although officials such as Governor JB Pritzker of Illinois have been much less reluctant to do so.

In just ten days, Biden and Trump will meet for the first debate of the campaign, an event that the president’s team hopes will help solidify with voters the theory that the 2024 elections are a choice between Biden and his predecessor .

“Trump comes to the first debate as a convicted criminal who continues to prove that he will do anything and harm anyone if it earns Donald Trump more power and revenge,” said Michael Tyler, a spokesman for the Biden campaign. “His entire campaign is a ploy of revenge and retaliation.”

A Trump campaign spokesperson said the Biden campaign’s new ads demonstrated that the Democrat led a coordinated attack against the Republican — a theory for which there is no evidence. In addition to the New York case , Trump has been indicted in two separate federal cases and one case in Georgia.

“Joe Biden and his campaign are stupid enough to highlight why they rigged the judicial system to harass the leading presidential candidate and his opponent in order to interfere in the election,” said Steven Cheung, a spokesman for the Trump campaign. “Biden’s campaign spent tens of millions of dollars on advertising, but his numbers didn’t change.”

Trump has maintained a narrow lead over Biden in most public polls for months, although interviews with nearly 2,000 voters who took part in polls in recent months by  The New York Times  and Siena College found a slight shift from Trump to Biden after the penalty. of the former president.
