The Manchester city derby pits rivals with different ambitions in the league face to face.

The city of Manchester will stop for the second time this season with the reunion between City x United, in the Premier League. The teams enter the field this Sunday with different objectives, but both need the three points. The derby, valid for the 27th round of the competition, takes place at the Etihad Stadium, at 12:30 pm (Brasília time).

In the first duel between the teams in the Premier League, in October last year, City came out on top and defeated United 3-0, at Old Trafford. Top scorer Haaland (2x) and Foden scored the goals in the match valid for the 10th round of the tournament.

Second in the Premier League with 59 points, City needs to do its homework and beat its rival to continue its pursuit of leader Liverpool, which already won in the round and opened a four-point lead at the top of the competition. Pep Guardiola’s team has won three consecutive games and has not lost in 18 matches this season.

Manchester United, in turn, occupies sixth place in the table, with 44 points, eight behind Aston Villa (52), the first team in the G4 to guarantee a place in next season’s Champions League. Erik ten Hag’s team is coming off a victory in the Premier League and is now aiming to achieve a positive run in the tournament.

In total, throughout the history of the duel, 192 games were played between the rivals. United have the best overall record, with 78 wins, compared to City’s 60. The teams have drawn in 53 clashes. However, City are on the back of two consecutive derby victories over United.
